Description: My favourite flower is the iris. This one is a very pale blue; so pale that it appears to be white. Only the new blooms show its true colours. The coppery background enables the petals to shine.

Description: From the same book as “Woman with Doek” this picture seemed to me to be the perfect companion-piece. Anyone who has ever lived in or visited Africa has to be intrigued by the way a mother bundles up her baby and swings it onto her back, tying it firmly and continues to work without even a bend in her back.
